VIN Inspections- If you have purchased a vehicle out-of-state you will need to have a Vehicle Identification Number Inspection done.
Please call dispatch at 307-875-1400 to have an officer conduct a VIN inspection on your vehicle.
Please have a copy of the title, sales paperwork, or insurance card with the VIN number on it, so it can be verified.
Fingerprint Services- The GRPD offers fingerprint services Tuesdays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm**, and Thursdays from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm** , or by appointment. *Excluding City observed holidays.

Prescription Drug Drop Off- The GRPD has a prescription drug drop off box located in the lobby, available during operating hours. M-F 8:00 am- 5:00 pm *Excluding City observed holidays.
NO SHARPS* only prescription drugs can be placed in the drop off box, no inhalers, no over the counter medications, and no loose pills, please leave pills in bottles or put pills in a zip lock bag.
*Sharps can be taken to Castle Rock Medical Center.
The GRPD participates in the Bi-annual DEA Drug Take-Back Days, occurring in April and October. Prescription drugs can be taken to the drop off location. All drugs are destroyed by the DEA.

Found Property- Found property will be held by the department for 30 days. If the owner is known, a notification will be attempted by GRPD. After 30 days, found property will be disposed of in accordance with department policy.
Property Release-To retrieve property from the Green River Police Department an appointment should be made prior to the request of any property release by calling 307-872-6170. M-F 9 am- 4 pm. *Excluding City observed holidays.
- 1. Written authorization to release the property from the Sweetwater County Attorney's Office or the City of Green River Prosecuting Attorney. The process for obtaining this approval may take extra time.
- 2. Written authorization to release the property from the Detective or Case Officer responsible for the case.
The Evidence Technician can facilitate the process for the release of the property but does not have the authority to determine what property can be released or when it can be released.
Photo identification is required for the return of your property.
- You may be asked to provide proof of ownership.
- If you wish to have another person recover your property for you, a notarized authorization will be required.
- Under no circumstances will a firearm be released until a criminal history is conducted on the person retrieving the firearm.
- Evidence and property used in the commission of a crime such as controlled substances or related instruments and/or contraband, which are unlawfully used or possessed, will be destroyed.
Found bikes are turned over to the GRPD every year and most of them end up never being returned to the owner. The Green River Police Department wants to keep residents from becoming victims of bicycle vandalism and theft. In doing so, the Police Department offers a free Bicycle Registration and Licensing program to all Green River citizens.
The first step to registering your bicycle is to click the link below. Please fill in all fields, and submit the information.
Once the registration is complete, you can pick up your sticker at the GRPD, to display on your bike. Even if your bike is stolen and the sticker is removed, we can track it by the serial number.
If you get a new bike or have a current bike:
•Take a picture of the bike
•Take a close up of the serial number
•Keep photos for your records and proof of ownership
•If you are missing a bike check with the GRPD

Funeral escorts are available by request. Requests must be made by calling dispatch at least 24 hours prior to the start of the escort.
GRPD officers conduct house checks for people who leave town for extended times or are gone on vacations, hospital stays, etc. If you need a house check scheduled please call dispatch.
Business / School Security Checks
GRPD officers check local business' and schools for security issues, i.e. open doors, suspicious activity after hours, and alarms. If you need to add your location to be checked please call dispatch and add your information.
TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) is designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking, and drunk driving by enhancing the fundamental "people skills" of servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. TIPS gives individuals the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol-related problems and intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies. The GRPD hosts TIPS training's several times a year.
